I admire poetry. It is such a creative way to express one’s inner-most feelings, and to me, poetry is much more personal than a simple narrative. I wanted to expose some of the deepest parts of my mind and some of my most personal feelings. This is a compilation of some of my favorite works of my own. These words come to you from my heart at my most pained, wrecked, vulnerable phases and at my highest, most uplifted phases. Thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable.

i stare at the stars
every night and wonder
why something so beautiful
must hide away each night.
then i remember every
beautiful thing about us
and though i know
the brightest parts of us
have disappeared like
the stars, i hope they
will reappear with the moon,
new and bright and beautiful.

“i love you, but
i’m not in love with you anymore.”
the cloth in my pillow,
exhausted and tired from
absorbing the tears from my eyes,
sunk further into my mattress as
it muffled another sob at your words.
i shut my eyes tight and
everything burned inside me as
i whispered the same to you,
both of us fully knowing
i was the only one lying;
my heart the only one breaking.

the sun rises for you each morning.
the moon sinks below the horizon each night
for the twinkle in your eyes.
they both battle for your attention,
yet your pupils remain locked with mine.
there is so much beauty in those twin irises
alone that can mercilessly outshine the sun
or the moon. the stars sparkle
underneath your eyelashes as i realize
i am holding a galaxy in my arms.
sample 13
starlight, star bright,
first star i see tonight
i wish i may, i wish i might
have the wish i wish tonight
starlight, star bright,
his lust for me you did ignite
i love him so, i hope you know
my wish has come to me tonight
starlight, star bright,
i will forever hold him tight
he’s made for me, i surely see
an end for us nowhere in sight
starlight, star bright,
he has grown ill, but he can fight
my hope is high, i will not cry
he will be better tomorrow night
starlight, star bright,
my tears have dimmed the candlelight
why did he go, i miss him so
he joins you in the sky tonight
starlight, star bright,
first star i see tonight
i thank you so, i hope you know
i wish the same wish every night
sample 14
oh, first love
dare i say?
i saw the stars in your eyes
the sun in your soul
your smile as soft as the petals on roses
he loves me
i heard the kindest words
held the most comforting hands
watched them strangle my heart
once
twice
he loves me not
still i thought you more grand than jewels
more beautiful than the sky
more delicate than a field of daisies
more enticing than the ocean
he loves me
oh, first love
dare i say?
beyond all of your beauties,
you were afraid.
you walked away,
did not look back.
because you loved fear
more than you loved me
he loves me not
sample 6
you know when something is worth holding on to
by the impulsive way your lips curl up
or the way your heart speeds up
at the mere thought.
don’t let go of what quickens your heart.
sample 10
i gave you my heart, beating for you
you tried not to
but you ripped it down the middle
and gave it back to me
in shambles.
tears in my eyes,
that i never told you were shed,
you tried to glue it back together,
to place the pieces back;
a puzzle,
and handed it back to me.
i stared at it,
one piece again, but still cracked,
and still beating for you,
and fully knowing you could
break it again just as easily,
i looked up into your mesmerizing eyes
and handed it back to you again,
still beating
for you.

where you stood at the end of her tunnel
lighting the way for her in the darkness
stands her sparks of passion.
where your hands combed through her hair
is the gentle blow of wind
as she stands tall
her delicate skin your fingers once danced upon
is replaced by armor
she is a warrior
you know her mind and her body
but she knows it better.
